Over the next three years, Media Diversity Institute aims to focus more on strengthening CyberHUB’s technical and research capacity, as well as build up our legal advocacy to combat commercial spyware, stalker ware, as well as unlawful surveillance. This includes improving, streamlining our workflows for working with victims, researching devices, handling data and forensic evidence, guiding the victims to additional support resources and opportunities to take their cases to the courts.
We also intend to focus more on threat sharing with the CiviCERT network (where MDI is a member) as well as the wider digital security community. Currently we have access to Google malware team, Android malware team, and we seek to build more relationships with other headset maker’s security teams.
Additionally, we have been working on building up a network of emerging threat labs, with partners like the SocialTIC, Share Foundation, Digital Security Lab Ukraine, JOSA, Smex, Digital Rights Foundation, Resident NGO, Secura.Team and others.
